Our mission is dedicated to promote oral care , revitalizing dental care systems during crisis, and promoting and empower dental workers in Syria, Turkey, and beyond. In pursuit of this mission, White Smile and our partners often operate in active conflict and disaster zones providing and enabling dental relief for affected populations. As a result, we are intimately aware of the vulnerability of the people who make up the communities in which we serve.
It is inherent the health care profession to seek to “do no harm” while endeavoring to help those in need of medical attention. For White Smile, this ethos extends to our mission and identity. We must to do everything that we can to avoid or limit any potentially adverse impacts of our behavior on the communities in which we work. While our priority is to provide dental assistance and awareness to those in need as efficiently as possible, White Smile is also keenly aware of the negative impact that unsustainable behavior can have on exacerbating the vulnerability of the populations we serve. With this in mind, White Smile has adopted a commitment to sustainability of dental resources by working on empowering and retaining dental staff in Syria and to make sure that the local communities and local health structures are able to continue the provision and promotion of dental care when possible.
Job creation and compensation paid for work performed are among an organization’s most important economic and social contributions. Meaningful and productive work is essential to human development. With these considerations in mind, White Smile strives to engage with local partners where possible to deliver dental services. As part of our mission, we also train and pay the salaries of dental professionals who are located in areas of need and would otherwise not receive adequate training or compensation for their work.
